Sydney Met has a robust, four-tier governance system.

The Sydney Met Constitution confirms that a corporate governing body, the Governing Council (GC), has been appointed to govern Sydney Met by a delegation from the Board of Directors (BoD). The Board of Directors (BoD) has appointed a Governing Council (GC) through an Instrument of Appointment, giving it responsibility for governance. The GC reports to the Sydney Met BoD on the status of the College through the GC Chair. The GC has established an Academic Board (AB) to which the GC delegates responsibility and powers for academic matters. The GC has appointed a Chief Executive Officer (CEO), also known as Principal Executive Officer (PEO) as the executive head of the Executive Management.   • Board of Directors (BoD): Sydney Met has a BoD which has statutory authority and power in the overall governance of Sydney Met. It has established the GC and delegated responsibility and power for the governance of the College. The BoD appoints a TEQSA Contact Person who facilitates communication between TEQSA and the GC. The BoD may confer on a person the power to deal with the GC on behalf of the company. The BoD administers the Sydney Met Foundation and convenes the Strategic Leaders Forum (SLF).
  • Governing Council (GC): The GC is the governing body of the College, reporting to the BoD through its Chair. It sets the directions for, monitors, and is accountable for all operations of Sydney Met. The GC may form committees as and when required. The primary responsibilities of GC and its powers and functions are outlined in the GC Charter.
  • Academic Board (AB): The AB is the academic body within the College, reporting to the GC through its Chair. It is responsible to oversee and monitor the academic activities of the College, and to advise the GC on academic matters. The AB has functions and powers relating to academic matters such as course development, accreditation, quality, integrity, and risk. The AB maintains a separation from the GC, allowing it to give independent advice and assessment of academic matters. The AB may form committees as and when required.   • Executive Management: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the officer responsible for College operations. The CEO is appointed by the GC and to be endorsed by the BoD, and it reports to the GC. Both GC and AB may delegate certain corporate or academic policy matters to the CEO. The CEO is also responsible to provide an Office of the Sydney Met Secretariate (OSS) to assist with governing bodies’ work. The management also has a Senior Leadership Team to guide and monitor the effective operation of Sydney Met.
