Academic Skills Centre (ASC)

The Academic Skills Centre (ACS) is the one-stop place for students to access resources, support, and guidance to develop and enhance their academic skills and academic English language competence.

Sydney Met offers a range of services and resources available and support to students—from academic writing, critical thinking, and referencing resources to opportunities to talk individually with one of the ASC team to online resource lists.

The ASC aims to:

  • Building your study skills. Foundational skills for students entering higher education.
  • Understanding academic research. Provides support for students learning to locate, critique and evaluate academic publications and research findings
  • Effective academic reading. Skills to support students to review and process text-based course materials.
  • Writing for academic and professional contexts. Develops key skills for preparing written assessments.
  • Maintaining academic integrity in a rapidly changing world. Resources and workshops to assist students to maintain an ethical stance in relation to assessments.
  • Effective presentations. Resources and workshops to equip students with effective oral communication skills for academic and professional contexts
