The Graduate Diploma in Business Administration at Sydney Met is designed for tomorrow’s entrepreneurs, business leaders, and those who want to consolidate work experience or advance their careers in the exciting field of entrepreneurship.

The course introduces students to key entrepreneurship and business concepts grounded in theory. Core subjects are from our MBA program and provide an immersive experience with students from diverse industry, cultural and educational backgrounds. Students will learn the fundamentals of business to gain an understanding of the core aspects of entrepreneurship and business administration and build their strategic business capabilities. They also gain market insights and acquire key knowledge and skills to make informed decisions. Students will gain a holistic strategic business point-of-view required to operate effectively in an increasingly competitive and changing global business world.

The Graduate Diploma in Business Administration is designed by academics and entrepreneurs who are committed to leading their careers and businesses to new heights. Students will learn how to develop critical strategies to guide their entrepreneurial and business plans by developing and employing dynamic leadership skills. Note that this is an exit-only qualification.

This course is accredited by TEQSA (Tertiary Education and Quality Standards Agency) and is consistent with the AQF (Australian Qualifications Framework). TEQSA regulates qualifications in the Australian education system. Entry Requirements

Academic Requirements

To satisfy the academic requirements for admission to a Graduate Diploma (AQF level 8) in Business Administration, applicants must meet at least one of the following entry requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (AQF Level 7) or equivalent from an accredited Australian Higher Education Provider or equivalent overseas qualification; or
  • A relevant Graduate Certificate (AQF level 8) from Sydney Met, or equivalent from an accredited Australian Higher Education Provider or equivalent overseas qualification (with credit transfer as per Credit and RPL Policy), or
  • A Diploma (AQF Level 5) or Advanced Diploma (AQF Level 6) in a related discipline AND a minimum of TWO years work experience in the related field (minimum of 20 hours per week); or
  • Alternative pathways, including mature age entry, where those aged 21 years and older may apply for entry based on high school, TAFE, VET qualifications, work experience, and informal studies.

English Requirements

Applicants for the Graduate Diploma course in the field of Business Administration must demonstrate proficiency as follows:

  • Minimum IELTS (Academic Module): 6.5 overall, with no band less than 6.0 completed in the last 2 years, or equivalent. E.g., PTE (Academic Module) or TOEFL; or
  • Completion of any program equivalent to AQF 7 or above in any field in Australia that has been completed within the last two years 2; or
  • Successful completion of at least half (0.5) year of full-time study (i.e., 4 Units) (or part-time equivalent) towards a Master’s degree or higher with an accredited Australian Higher Education Provider; or 
  • Completion of an approved English program, such as an EAP/ Cambridge/ IELTS course at one of Sydney Met’s articulated English Colleges.
