Research Webinar Series

The Sydney Metropolitan Institute of Technology (Sydney Met) Research Webinar Series is an exciting new initiative for Sydney Met, reflecting our commitment to fostering a vibrant research culture that supports the professional development of our academic staff and enhances the academic experience of our students.

Purpose
The Research Webinar Series is a platform for Sydney Met academic staff and invited external academic colleagues to share their research findings, methodologies, and insights to:

  • Support a culture of research and scholarship at Sydney Met.
  • Provide a forum for the dissemination of current research and scholarship.
  • Build connections between Sydney Met academics and external researchers.
  • Contribute to the research skills and knowledge base of Sydney Met staff and students.
  • Integrate Sydney Met students into our research culture.

Format and Schedule

  • Webinars will be held every two months.
  • Each session will be approximately 50 minutes, including a 35-40 minute presentation followed by a 10-15 minute Q&A session.
  • Webinars will be conducted via Teams, and will be recorded, with the recordings available for offline viewing.

Who should attend?

The webinars are open to all of the Sydney Met community (staff, students, members of the Academic Board and Governing Council) and external academic collaborators.

Who will present?

  • Academic staff from Sydney Met will present their ongoing or completed research projects, to showcase their work and receive peer feedback.
  • External academics with expertise in relevant fields will be invited to share their insights.

What will the topics of the presentations be?

The topics will reflect the disciplinary and interdisciplinary areas of focus at Sydney Met, including:

  • Innovation in Business and Entrepreneurship
  • Emerging Trends in Information Technology
  • Social Work Practices and Challenges
  • Research Methodologies and Best Practices
  • Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and Educational Research

The Research Webinar Series represents a significant step toward cultivating a robust research culture at Sydney Met. By providing a regular platform for academic discourse and collaboration, this series will contribute to the professional growth of our staff, the academic advancement of our students, and the overall profile of our institution.
