  • ICT103 Computer Security and Network Fundamentals
  • ICT104 Introduction to Database Design and Management

Undergraduate Certificate in IT Course Learning Outcomes
CLO 1 – Demonstrate and apply introductory knowledge of key areas of information technology
CLO 2 – Analyse and interpret information to inform and support decision-making
CLO 3 – Apply knowledge and skills to use IT for solving real world problems.
CLO 4 – Communicate effectively with individuals and within teams
CLO 5 – Apply ethical principles to decision-making in key areas of IT

Students completing the Undergraduate Certificate in Information Technology will receive credit for all four units in the Sydney Met BIT as all units are core to the BIT. The BIT has two majors: Cyber Security and Information Systems, and a General (non-major) option.

Entry Requirements

Qualification

  • Successful completion of Year 12 in Australia with minimum ATAR of 60, or equivalent overseas qualification, or
  • Satisfactory completion of an accredited Tertiary Preparation Program or a Foundation Year Program offered by an accredited Australian Higher Education Provider that would enable students to gain entry to an Australian university; or
  • Satisfactory completion of a tertiary education qualification at AQF Level 5 (Diploma) or above from an accredited Australian Higher Education Provider, or an AQF Level 5 (Diploma) or above qualification from a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) in Australia, or equivalent overseas qualification, or
  • Satisfactory completion of an Undergraduate Certificate in Information Technology (with credit transfer)

English Requirement
The English proficiency requirements for international students or local applicants with international qualifications are:

  • Minimum IELTS (Academic Module): 6.0 overall with no band less than 5.5, or equivalent, upon application.
  • Successful completion of an AQF 5 Diploma (at least one year full-time) or Advanced Diploma (at least one year fulltime) qualification in Australia, or at least half (0.5) year of full-time study (i.e., 4 Units) (or part-time equivalent) towards a bachelor’s degree or higher with an accredited Australian Higher Education Provider, or
  • Successful completion of the Intermediate Level or above of the English for Academic Purposes (EAP).

Special Entry

  • Special entry may be possible for applicants who do not meet the above requirements but demonstrate that they have suitable work experience to be able to undertake this degree.
  • Suitable work experience for special entry means that the applicants have at least two years’ full-time experience in a role directly relating to this course, within the last five years.

Applicants must be at a minimum 18 years of age prior to course commencement.
