Sydney Met’s Peer Mentoring Program is designed to support new students as they transition to life and studies at our institution. Run by current students and supervised by our dedicated Student Support Team, this program offers a friendly and supportive network that helps new students settle in and feel at home. Peer mentors provide a wealth of knowledge, from study tips and navigating campus life to practical advice on living in Sydney, all aimed at helping new students make the most of their experience.
Our peer mentors have firsthand experience with the challenges and excitement of starting at Sydney Met. They can answer questions, provide guidance on coursework, suggest resources, and help students connect with others in their classes or courses. Additionally, mentors share insights about the best places to explore, live, and enjoy in Sydney, making it easier for newcomers to integrate into their new community.
The Peer Mentoring Program is also a fantastic opportunity for students to expand their social and academic networks. By connecting with others in the program, new students can build friendships, find study partners, and feel more confident as they navigate university life. For mentors, the program is a chance to develop leadership skills, gain valuable experience in supporting others, and make a positive impact on the university community.
Sydney Met's campus is located on the unceded territory of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, who are the traditional owners of the land where the campus is situated. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present, and emerging. We extend that respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia and Indigenous peoples globally who are presently studying, working, or contributing to Sydney Met.
